Wow… what a week it has been for the markets. The term ‘Credit Crisis’ can now takes its place amongst the ‘Dot.Com bubble’, the ‘1987 crash’ and ‘Black Thursday’ as it will be a long time before the markets forget this week (or indeed the events that may still be to come).

Two weeks after I wrote an article here about Student Loans the Metro has a front page article titled “Double-dealing on student loans” detailing why graduates are furious at the discrepancy between the CPI and RPI rates of inflation which leave them worse off.
The only thing the article really adds to the debate is a comment from the Government “We think it’s important to use the same measure across the years” – something which I’ll be sure to remember when they try and justify increased council tax bills in the coming months!
About two months ago I received an email from the eBay Research Department offering me £5 if I took an online survey. My first reaction was that this was one of those phishing scams but I cautiously took a look anyway.
There were no questions asking for any personal details, just questions about my experience of using eBay which took less than 5 minute to complete so I went ahead and sent my feedback. I had forgotten all about this survey until I received a cheque in the post for £5 as promised. So it just goes to prove that not all things that seem too good to be true turn out not to be true.
I used the comparison website mysupermarket.co.uk today to save me money on my regular food shop online. The site was very easy to use as I could import my favourites from Tesco and reserve a delivery without having to leave the site.

My eBay auctions finished lastnight with 7 of the 14 items listed selling. The total value of the items sold was was £45.88, eBay listing fees came to £3.15, PayPal fees were £2.76, packing materials cost £2.65 and postage costs came to £10.52. So all things considered I made a total profit of £26.80.
Photographing all the items, writing the listing and packing everything that sold took about 3 hours in total so I earned the equivalent of £8.93 per hour. Which means that if I am to become an eBay millionaire I need to work for another 111,982 hours, or just over 43 years working 50 hour weeks. But that’s not the biggest problem, I would need to find 261,780 items to sell which I very much doubt I have in my small flat. Oh well… looks like my millionaire adventure continues.
