15% off M&S

I have been needing some new shirts for work for a couple of weeks now but have been waiting for a good M&S voucher to reduce the cost. Finally today I managed to find a code for 15% off so I was able to go ahead and place my order.

The code is WEBS8LD2 and if you enter FREEDELV you also get free delivery! So simply by waiting a couple of weeks and checking my favourite voucher site hotdealsuk.com regularly I was able to save £13.35.

How much cheaper is life as a vegetarian?

A couple of months ago I wrote about how it’s cheaper to be a vegetarian particularly with the recent increases in meat prices. So this week I put that theory to the test and became a vegetarian!

As a meat lover I was dreading this week but it actually proved to be far easier than I thought. I didn’t have to radically change my diet as I could still eat my favourite meals such as curry but with potato rather than chicken, and Pizza loaded with pineapple, tomatoes and peppers rather than pepperoni.  Many meals didn’t even need a substitute for the meat as pasta could simply be served in the same way but without any traces of meat in the sauce.

In fact the only additional food that I needed to buy was cheese to replace the meat I would normally have in my sandwiches and a couple of extra potatoes. So in total compared to the previous week when I spent £8.20 on meat products, even taking into account the extra 89p spent on cheese and potatoes, I have saved £7.31 by being vegetarian for the week.

So if I was to become a permanent vegetarian than I would be £380 better off over the course of a year. But giving up something I love to save some money is not what MillionaireAdventure is about, otherwise you could take the same argument further and say I should give up food altogether as that would save me even more money. But what this week has shown me is that by cutting down a little, particularly whilst meat prices are so high can help me save money.
