20% off @ Debenhams

I needed to buy a new shirt today and resisting the shrine to consumerism that is our local shopping centre I instead chose to shop online where I could shop from the comfort of my home and focus solely on purchasing what I need, rather than being sold what I don’t need.

I know some people can spend a whole day happily wandering around window shopping but to me that just seems unproductive so I’ll end up buying things just to justify the time I have invested in going shopping. And with just about anything you could possibly think of available in the shopping centre they will eventually find your weakness and separate you from your cash.

Plus when I just need to buy a single shirt why would I want to hunt around 1.1 million square feet of retail space, divided up amongst 165 different stores all with different layouts just to make it that much harder for you to find what you want.

With online shopping it’s simply a matter of typing in the web address of the store you are interested in, selecting menswear and then shirts and the hunt is complete. That just leaves the selection process which all men can do in under a minute and completing the transaction by entering your card details.

All this without having to queue behind those annoying people that are returning half the store they bought the previous week, thus giving them an excuse to return to the shopping centre and start the whole process over again. And without having some spotty teenager trying to sell you a store card which they know nothing about, other than it will save you 10% on your purchases today (the fact that the interest charges are extortionate is lost on them).

Anyway, the point of this post is that I found the shirt that I needed online with Debenhams in under 5 minutes and a quick search on HotUKDeals.com found me a promotional code for 20% off and free postage saving me £8.15 in total.

And that’s before you count the savings on not having to park the car for the day, buying that coffee that you don’t need but do so anyway just because that’s what the cool kids do when they go shopping and that generic expensive lunch you could get in any shopping centre in the UK.
